Academic Research

I am a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Surrey and actively research and collaborate with other University researchers as part of the team at the Centre for Environment and Sustainability (CES).

My research interests focus on multi-level climate collaboration. I work to understand how policy levers and incentives can stimulate horizontal and vertical actors to build long term behavioural change. This has led me to address two strands of what appear quite different spheres of research; national to local place based climate action and business supply chains. However, both are underpinned by the need for effective multi-level governance,  communication, network building and require long term changes in behaviour.

Multi-level climate governance in the UK:  a current paper in development on the long term impact of Devolution in England on local climate action. Examples of recent project publications: co-author in a major climate governance programme led by the Grantham Institute - PCAN/ESRC funded project (2021-24).

Sustainability across Supply Chains: The second strand of research focuses on public and private sector engagement with suppliers and customers. I am particularly interested in supply chains and the management of  Scope 3 emissions. Recent work has addressed SMEs and the Net Zero Transition through a project  led by the University of Bath and partnered with DESNZ.  I continue to work on the evaluation of behavioural additionality derived from government innovation and energy efficiency grants for SMEs and its applicability for low carbon funds.

I am a social scientists and I have extensive experience of semi-structured interviews, participatory action research and facilitation of research workshops.
