How can I help?
Through my commercial experience and academic research I have been able to bring additional expertise to many organisations. The areas that businesses and the public sector organisations I have worked with have found most useful are:
Creating science-based data to support action: Carbon footprinting (product and site level) emissions analysis, Supply chain carbon including the knotty issues of mapping and scope 3 emissions.
Climate governance: offering guidance on effective climate governance structures for new and re-focusing organisations.
Climate conversations: identifying and bringing together stakeholders, setting goals, designing and delivering workshops/events, facilitating conversations and helping agree future action.
All of which is underpinned by many years of project management experience and on time delivery!

Derry and Strabane Climate and Sustainability Commission
As part of the UKRI Fast Followers programme I worked alongside colleagues at Your Climate Strategy and Derry and Strabane Council to develop a governance structure and Climate Investment and Action Plan for the newly created Commission. The Commission is unique in the UK bringing together not only representatives from business, education, local authorities and the voluntary sector but also senior Northern Ireland Department officers and community groups. This multi-level climate and sustainability organisation is developing place based specific plans and actions to both mitigate and adapt to climate issues.
We created a theory of change based approach for the Commission action plan, including multi-faceted sectoral mapping. We also developed a Capacity Analysis Tool that for the first time allowed an organisation to test its preparedness to act and respond to net zero, climate resilience and bio-diveristy.
This work was funded as part of UKRI's Net Zero Living programme

Climate Action Plan and NICCAP3 - Northern Ireland: supporting NILGA and SOLACE consultation response
Two major action plans were presented by the Northern Ireland government for public consultation in the summer of 2025. Both were complex and provided guidance on government approaches to the mitigation and adaptation of climate change in Northern Ireland. Working with Andy Boyle of YCS, we created two bespoke workshops. Each one was based on detailed analysis of the plans and the role that local government would be required to play. Using three key questions and facilitated discussion we were able to frame a draft response to the Minister for both the topic areas.

A Net-Zero Carbon Baseline and Projections for York Minster
York Minster, one of world’s most magnificent cathedrals, sits at the heart of the city of York. Surrounded by a 7 acre site, it is part of a bustling neighbourhood of residents, visitors and staff that live and work within the more than 60 buildings and green spaces that make up the Minster area.
The Minster team working with Your Climate Strategy (YCS), led by Professor Andy Gouldson, built up a picture of emissions from not only the Minster buildings but travel and even in the materials and services that are bought. The team used the data gathered to calculate the Minsters carbon footprint and provide carbon reduction scenarios to 2035. This will help the Minster team plan their ongoing works programme. The programme also provided the Minster team with a tool that will allow them to update information annually and keep track of progress.
